I'm on the lookout for some new blogging software. This one has been amazing for the last 5 years or so, but the developer is defunct and there's a bug that deletes comments, even when I've not selected them.

I need something that I can host myself, and has solid media embedding, Youtube, Vimeo, Pictures, etc.

If anyone has some suggestions, I would be glad to hear them! Of course, if I find something really awesome in my research, you'll be the first to hear about it!

Thanks for the comments guys. I've used Wordpress MU in the past at work, with fairly positive results. Which is to say I liked it a lot. There were a few nasty quirks that I doubt by their nature would be on the single-site blend.

I'll give indexhibit a test install later this week, but the samples don't feel blogish (new word?) enough for me. Looks like it would be fantastic for project sites, however.

I did a test install of Moveable Type and so far I really enjoy using it. See it here

Not as solid as Wordpress, but indexhibit.org has some wonderful aspects to it and produces unique blogs. I'm switching over this month.

Wordpress is an exceptionally good platform for self-hosting, I've used it for years and have nothing but good things to say about it.
