I was reading Paul's Blog today, and he noted something that had been the topic of much disscussion this week here at Summertech...

This is the deal: Today in Mesquite TX it was 93 degrees (F) partly cloudy, Here in New York: Rain and 72. Paul went from New York to Texas, and I from Texas to New York, both of us working for the enrichment of Machinima. Paul must adapt to the heat, and I must confront Jack Frost.

I had to get a second shirt today it was so cold. I miss "swimming weather," sure I sweat a lot here because of the humidity, but man it feels nice and cool. I've gone two weeks without burning my back on car seats, and I strangely miss it. It feels like autumn and I keep wondering why the leaves are still green.

At any rate I got my hair cut, and now I can play dodge ball unimpaired by my once signature long flowing bangs. Don’t get too upset now, remember, it’s to defeat the children! For the good of my fellow staffers, sacrifices must be made.

Week two has come and gone, it started off on the fourth with a bang in Hoboken, and ended at the Whiteplains mall with a swift cut to the hair. Somewhere in-between my campers did everything from Double Dare to Star Wars, and some of them even finished up their films completely. And don’t look now but trouble with a capital T just landed in on the 2nd floor all the way from Tokyo. Three busloads worth of college girls just (unwittingly) became the core of all chaos amongst the male half of the staff, hilarious times are ahead indeed.

It seems I now hold the title of Jailbreak champion. I'm the only dodge-baller to ever make the half-court basket to free all the teammates who are 'out.' (we use very light foam and plastic balls, difficult to get someone out, much less make a 3 from way down court.)

It must be rockthirty.

The first week has come and gone, so where does that leave us?

This first week was, and this is an understatement, CRAZY!

Things I thought would take 2 hours took 2 seconds, little things that I felt I could gloss over, took 2 days, and dodge ball rocked my world.

These kids are sharp, like razors. 8 pointy sponges soaking up the contents of my gray matter that took me years to collect, in a matter of hours. They all have footage, some are nearly complete, and they'll all have time for 2 films, if they really want it. I've informed them of various recent opportunites...Bit Film

I didn't really know until I got here, but Fountain Head Entertainment is sponsoring the course, and has provided us with ten copies of the excellent Machinimation software. High fives to the FHE crew, and it seems I owe Mr. Ross 2 beers now. Fountain Head

In other news, my favioute game, Action Half-Life has had something of an electric shock in my world, and is breathing once again! Action Forums

And I'm now on book 0 Wheel of Time! Woot! (New Spring)

Dodgeball in the rain,

It dampens all the pain,

I think I'll go insane,

Because I'm playing dodgeball in the rain!

But seriously, it's like the highlight of my summer now.

Well, until the chicks from Japan move in downstairs next week. (or so I hear, heh.)


First two classes went all right, I need to re-gear my approach and adjust the flaps for chaos control. So many questions, and so little time.

Boss man Steve and his mighty crew of techno misfits have been snapping photos left and right, I'll try to snag some for the blog.

I gots my Summer Tech staff T yesterday, it made it all so... official...


Still doing meet and greets, junior staffers and the regular staff is trickling in. I was the first one in on Thursday, spent the night in the empty halls making noise, watching anime, and shoving down my treasured Yankee Doodles (Cream filled devils food cakes.) The kids come in on Sunday, and we spent today getting the lab in some kind of order while wondering where the toilet paper and shower curtains are.

In stranger news, my pal Wilson is getting married, and it's not a barnyard animal wearing the other ring. Surprise Surprise. Seriously, congrats man!
